Mission:

The primary goal of the Lake County Dance CoOp (LCDC) is to provide local dancers a community with which to perform, teach, and learn by forming a family of performance troupes which will be active in county performance venues, schools, and at county events. The LCDC's further goals are to build a professional quality, community-based dance education program and to be a presenter of touring events at local venues.

Lake County has a fine tradition of theatrical and musical performance.  The Lake County Theatre Company has been producing plays and musicals for 20 years as both the Lake County Repertory Theatre and the Lakeport Players.  The Lake County Symphony has been presenting concerts for 30 years.  There is an amazing population of talented musicians and artists of every genre around Clear Lake supported by the Lake County Arts Council, EcoArts of Lake County, the Lake County Wine Alliance, and other organizations and businesses.  The Soper Reese Community Theatre is close to completion and will give Lake County its first professional quality performing arts venue. 

There is, however, no tradition of high quality concert dance here.  The presentation of dance in our county has been largely limited to the dance school recital, which severely limits both the interested audience pool and the sophistication of the programming that can be presented.

At 42, I have realized that I am not done dancing, nor have I fulfilled my personal mission of widening popular appreciation for concert dance.  To that end, I am searching for like-minded adults to form a dance company.  Dancers, choreographers, teachers, and interested supporters and audience members -- please join me in bringing dance to the growing culture of Lake County.  The Lake County Dance CoOp will not be limited to any one form of dance.  Dancers, teachers, and choreographers of all disciplines are welcome as are dancers of all fitness and skill levels.  There is a place for everyone who has the desire, the interest, the enthusiasm, and the committment to learn.

If you have time and skill to give to the growth of a new organization ... If you love to watch dancers do what they do from the comfort of a theatre seat ... The Lake County Dance CoOp is a newly conceived organization that could use your talent, enthusiasm, and support.
